Remember pigtails? I don’t see many little girls with this ‘do anymore. I love how our bangs started at the top of our heads! This is me (Jane) and Audrey on the Disney World Monorail in 1984.
Not sure what’s going on in this picture… there seems to be a rather large piece of Swiss cheese around my neck, and Audrey is taking delight in being the one to put it there! We were strange little girls! This was taken in either 1984 or 1985.
This is the four Couto kids (left to right, Jane, Audrey, Keith, Adam) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in June of 1992. This was our last family vacation with just the six immediate family members. Keith and Adam were in college, so their girlfriends would start joining us on the family vacations soon afterwards. Now a family vacation for the Coutos (including husbands, wives and children) involves 17 people!

lol I love pigtails and put my daughter in them whenever she ALLOWS me to LOL
Mine’s up this week
I love your idea for “Throwback Thursday”! I added it to my blog too. Your pigtails are adorable!
You’ve inspired me to put my daughter’s hair in pigtails today! What cute pictures…
And I finally found some old pictures for Throwback Thursday, so I’m up this week!
Ya’ll are adorable!
The swiss cheese pic has got to be my favorite…
I’m up..
You are both cute with the bangs and pigtails.
17 members of the family? I can Imagine how much fun when all family members are gathered together. =)
You girls are just DARLING!! And mine is up, too!

Steph
If I had a girl, I would sit on her and put her in pigtails for you Jane. See? I can be nice!
I LOVE pigtails and think my daughter looks so cute in them – for the length of time that she leaves them in at least lol!
oh I’d love to participate in this but no pictures of me back then. I always wore my hair in pigtails and even today my girls do. Course the only reason they do is because daddy LOVES pigtails. You can see me in pigtails at my blog. (top corner) Shhh, don’t tell the neighbors though.
Say Cheese!!! LOL!!! I have mine up too.
Janie… The year was 1984! And you were the “swiss cheese” from The Very Hungry Caterpillar book in a little nursery school graduation skit. You were the best swiss cheese ever! But when the skit was over, you asked Audrey to help get rid of the cheese!
Mom – Pinks & Blues Girls
Jane and Audrey, I have to say that your Mom rocks!
And me and my girls love pigtails, I didn’t know they were unfashioned. Girls just had pigtails yesterday, todays it’s a headband day.
ps. I added your contest too to my post, and we are not really going for a vacation… we are really planning on moving closer to Grandma (MIL) and Matt landed an awesome job interview.
I’m up! And I’ll definitely be getting my hands on a scanner soon to get some good old pictures to post

So fun!! I tried to take a picture of my old photos but they were just TOO blurry! Oh well!
Your pictures are always so fun!
My daughter sports pigtails about once a week..it’s so cute!!!
Great pics! Mine’s up!

I love the cheese head picture, looks like you were a Packer football fan HaHa. You two always have great pictures.
I posted my Throwback Thursday. http://ohmeohmymywonderfulmen.blogspot.com/
I hope that I am not offending, but why hasn’t anyone commented on those killer abs of Adam’s? haha!
Wait-no one does pigtails anymore? How does everyone keep their little girl’s hair out of her eyes? My daughter has super-fine, super-soft hair (her tap teacher, her nursery teachers, random people all comment on how soft her hair is–poor Eli’s is just as soft but too short for anyone to notice!) so ponytails and pigtails are all that work for us. We did grow out her bangs though. Anyway-love the pictures. Check out mine! Thanks!!!
It never fails when throwback Thursday comes along that I look at the great pictures you have posted and it gets me thinking about my own childhood and all the fond memories. I think what I miss the most is how carefree childhood is. No stresses, no worries. Life was grand!
Great family pics…love the bangs! I have my throwback up…check it out…
Amazing how we are old enough that the early to mid 90’s (which doesn’t seem like that long ago at all!) now look so old (the swim suits, the sunglasses, etc.).
You inspire me to get a whole bunch more pics scanned in.
My TT is up too.
i love the photos, as always…i am still a big fan of wearing pigtails, that is actually how my hair is done today…it is a lifesaver for long hair when it is so hot outside…
Nope pig tails and bunches appear to be a thing on the past.
Cheers
Doing my first throwback today!

aweee loving the pigtails. I put my hair in meatballs occasionally
My Luci Bella Loves her pigtails! I think they’re classic! Love the photos!
I always had long hair as a little girl and mom would put it up in pigtails more often than not:-) And yup, I had those bangs too! hehe Loved seeing the older pictures….you’re making me feel so old, though, all the pictures of me as a child are in black and white!!! LOL xoxo
I LOVE the pigtails and the Swiss cheese! You girls are toooooooo cute!

My daughter has a big ol’ cowlick right on top and will never be able to wear bangs. She’s killin’ me cuz they’re sooo cute!!
My girls wear pigtails. My youngest LOVES pigtails & my oldest sometimes wears them low. Cute pics, my bangs were like that too! When my kids bangs started getting cut, I couldn’t even figure how people cut them like that, lol. Oh & I have a terrible cowlick, I think by them being so thick it wasn’t bad because when I tried doing bangs a few years ago, they weren’t as thick & I couldn’t pull it off. Anyway, I played along!
Hi! I followed a link to New England Mamas, and from there to you.
I LOVE pigtails. I have a 2-year-old girl and she has sparse hair, and I am losing my mind waiting to be able to put it up. I got it in pigtails for a few weeks but then I trimmed it (she was twisting dreadlocks into it) and now it won’t go anymore.
I really need to get my printer/scanner up and going so I can show ya’ll what throwback is ALL ABOUT! wanna talk about laughing? You and Audrey (I tried to refrain from using ya’ll) were really cute kids…I’ll admit I had the pig tails too. . .mostly a pony girl!
I won’t say how old I was in 1984!!! ROTF!!!
It cracks me up that the monorail still looks exactly the same today. The entire Tomorrowland looks a bit more like yesterday land. But I guess in like 1974 when the monorail was built it looked very new age. Now the subways in most major cities is more updated than the Disney version! Thanks for the fun.
I put pigtails in the Beast’s hair almost everyday, although people around here call them “dog ears” which I think is really strange. Anyway, great pics!
17 people you say? I sure hope you’re not like my husband–one bathroom is NOT enough to serve all. No, you definitely will be needing eight, six, minimum, lol.
Love Throwback Thursdays, love it love it love it! xoxo Stacey
I love pigtails:) I still enjoy wearing them, I don’t care if their in style or not:0 I think they are cute.
Awww…so cute! And it reminds me of my trips to Disneyworld as a kid. I want to go back soooo bad!
I just love piggy tails! If I’m ever blessed with a girl I’ll be giving her that look
Love the pictures. ANd I must say, family vacations involving A LOT of people = hectic BUT Fun and VERY memorable!
