I’ll put it out there.
I love me some pink! I love me some makeup. And shopping. And fashion magazines. And wearing heels. And wearing hip, trendy outfits. And adding very feminine touches all around my home (whenever I can!).
I’m a pink girl.
About 4 years ago, one of my girlfriends was pregnant and she told me that she hoped upon hoped it would be a girl because she is such a “girly girl” and she couldn’t imagine having a boy (gasp!).
She couldn’t see herself immersed in football, baseball, soccer, wrestling and basketball. With mud. With frogs and toads. With trains and planes. And Lincoln Logs and Matchbox cards and Dinosaurs.
I don’t know why I remember this so well, but in any case… she had a girl. And then 18 months later had another girl.
And so I remember very distinctly, with each of my pregnancies, right before that 20 week sonogram where you can find out the sex of your baby… everyone (I mean everyone!) around me would say to me, “Oh, I bet it’s a girl! I just see you with a girl!”
So when I had my first boy, my darling William.
And then my second boy, my darling Alexander…
And then my third boy, my darling Benjamin…
And my home kept getting more and more blue…
I actually started to realize, much to my own surprise – I’m even more Girly Girl than before!
My husband and I plan to have more children.
We’re not sure if that actually means 1, 2 or 3 more – I know, gasp! – and maybe we’ll have a girl among the bunch.
But I’m happy to say I’m a total (and still very much of a) Girly Girl who just happens to be raising (the most wonderful) boys!
And I LOVE it!
And so I will be beginning a continuous blog once a week called – A Girly Girl’s Guide to Raising Boys.
Hey, I’m a Girly Girl…
That’s who I am, always have been. Always will be.
It just so happens that I can put together a mean Thomas Train Railroad Track in under 2 minutes!
