Pinks & Blues Hosts a Dual Virtual Baby Shower
Pinks & Blues Holds Contest For Expectant Moms; Hosts a Baby Shower for actress Angela Kinsey
East Greenwich, RI (January 15, 2008) – The mother-and-daughters team at Pinks & Blues (www.pinksandblues.com) — the fast-growing online destination for parents to stay up-to-date with trendy and innovative products and services, is hosting a dual Virtual Baby Shower for two mothers-to-be. A Virtual Baby Shower is a shower that is hosted online rather than in person, with the gifts shipped to the shower honorees. Pinks & Blues is currently receiving baby products from companies, and will pass along the gifts to the honorees.
One of the Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower honorees is actress Angela Kinsey, who stars in NBC’s “The Office,” and is due with her first child in May (the announcement can be found here: http://pinksandbluesgirls.wordpress.com/2008/01/09/and-the-pinks-blues-virtual-baby-shower-celebrity-is/ ).
Pinks & Blues is running a contest to determine who the other pregnant honoree will be by asking expectant moms to send in their inspirational, fun or surprising pregnancy stories. Friends and family members can also nominate expectant moms by sending in their stories about why their nominee deserves to be honored with the Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower (contest details can be found here: http://pinksandbluesgirls.wordpress.com/pinks-blues-virtual-baby-shower/ ).
“I am expecting my fourth boy in June, and when we announced my pregnancy on our site ( www.pinksandblues.com), many of the vendors we have featured so generously offered to send me baby items,” said Pinks & Blues Co-founder Audrey Couto McClelland. “But my sister, my mom and I thought how much fun it would be to instead use these baby items to run a Virtual Baby Shower for one of our Pinks & Blues readers who is also expecting a baby around the same time as me. We thought it would be a fantastic way to make an expectant mom feel showered with gifts like a celebrity! And that’s where we got the idea to get an actual celebrity to shower, as well.”
McClelland’s sister, Co-founder Jane Couto Porricell, added, “When we approached the vendors with our idea, the response was amazing! The companies are thrilled about participating in our Virtual Baby Shower.” These companies include Hanes, Robeez, Strollometer, Mabel’s Labels, Tots On-the-Go, Posh Peacock, Skimbaco, Secure2Me, Be So Beautiful Baby, Rag & Bone and Bambina Ballerina.
Getting actress Angela Kinsey on board as the celebrity honoree for the Virtual Baby Shower was very exciting for the ladies of Pinks & Blues. Sharon Couto, Co-founder and mother of McClelland and Porricelli said, “Angela was our first choice! She is so smart, funny and feisty… yet approachable and such a great role model for moms. And we just love her on ‘The Office.’ It is really special to have her a part of this.”
Expectant moms can nominate themselves (or be nominated by others) for the Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower through Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2008. The ladies at Pinks & Blues Girls will have a panel choose ten moms-to-be from the stories they receive for the contest, and then Pinks & Blues readers will vote on their favorite story. The voting will end on March 6, 2008 and the Virtual Baby Shower gifts will be shipped on May 1, 2008.
Pinks & Blues readers will also have the additional fun of following both Angela Kinsey’s and the contest winner’s pregnancies with blog updates on Pinks & Blues.
