Do you remember playing MASH as a kid?
Mansion. Apartment. Shack. House.
And then you picked 4 cars you wanted to drive. (Mine were usually a Range Rover, a Mercedes, a Land Rover and a Jeep.)
Then 4 places you wanted to live. (I used to pick New York City, Los Angeles, London and my hometown of Providence.)
Then 4 numbers, which usually meant the number of kids you would have. (I always wanted a lot of kids, so my numbers were usually high – like 4, 5, 6 or 7!)
And then of course – the BIG ONE – the 4 boys you would marry.
(I would spare myself the embarrassment of listing my crushes from childhood, but I’m pretty sure Todd M., Garth N. and David L. and Tommy F. aren’t reading this! And if they are reading this… sorry guys, I already married my dream man!) 😉
But while on vacation this weekend I overheard 3 little girls playing MASH, and it took me back.
It’s funny. My life (besides the man) is pretty close to what I dreamed of as a child.
I’ve lived in/live in 2 of the 4 places I always wanted to live – NYC and Rhode Island
The number of kids? Well, okay, 7 is not going to happen! But I already have 3 kids, and would love at least 4!
I remember I used to always, always, always want to have an SUV. And we have a Chevy SUV for us and the kids!
And even though I don’t live in a mansion, I love my house. It’s perfect for me, Matt and the three boys (and our future kids…!)
I watched those 3 little girls the other day having a blast writing down the things they “want” in their lives. It was so funny seeing them react to each other’s answers. Very cute.
And it made me want to pull out a piece of paper and do a MASH… and even though it would probably be played with my husband (!), it made me remember to keep dreaming and keep living and keep knowing that when you think BIG, amazing things happen!
I hope those 3 little girls can look back in 20 years at their dreams, and realize that their dreams have come true, too!
