We are so excited to share that Jody, our Virtual Baby Shower winner, has received and opened her gifts… and she loves them!

Read on for the latest update from this glowing mama-to-be (due in July)!

“Hello Pinks and Blues Ladies!!!

As I said in my previous email, I am overjoyed with all of the gifts I have received!!! I knew I would be getting some awesome prizes but what I got exceeded my wildest dreams!! Seriously, when when family, friends and coworkers ask what I received I almost cannot put it into words as it is all so amazing!!!

As I already mentioned I received all of the goodies on Tuesday, May 13 but had to wait until my friend Heidi returned home from a business trip on Thursday to open everything since she made this all possible.

We had such a good time opening everything. Jeremy got a kick out of the Nipple Nurture cream. He really likes his Dad Gear bag. He mentioned it would be great to use for fishing as well but I told him to dream on. I am attaching a photo of Jeremy with his Dad Gear bag.

Charlie loved the purple tutu from Miss Priss Tutus (perhaps we need to enroll him in dance), the animal ABC book from Barefoot Books and “his own t-shirt” from Baby Candy. He thought it was so cool that he got one and so does the baby.

I loved everything!! The Toro stroller (from Tots On-the-Go and euro-baby) is to die for!! It is so smooth and I can’t wait to use it with the new baby. I immediately had to order the infant carrier attachment, as this is the only stroller I want to use. It is then compatible with my Graco infant seat!! I really like the neutral tan color too.

Some friends have asked me what my favorite thing is and I have a hard time picking. I have had a great time going through all of it and showing it to loved ones. My in-laws
are coming tomorrow for show and tell. My Aunties are all coming in a week to see everything as they do not live close by. I love showing friends and family all of the loot and telling them about the company who gave it to me. It is truly incredible!!

I mean all of the pampering products for me and baby, the blankets, onesies and t-shirts for baby and even one for me, the diaper cakes, the great note cards, the diaper changing pads, the unique baby items, the baby book and photo book, the burp cloths, bibs, nesting pillow, custom wall art, cookbook, sassy flip flops for me, a Strollometer, baby shoes, delivery bag, baby announcements, all of the gift certificates, etc. and the STROLLER….all of these items are awesome!!!

I am full of gratitude to every vendor who was gracious to donate these items to our family. I want to thank each one of them from the bottom of my heart. You have made my day, my week, my month and my year more than you will every know.

I feel very blessed by all of these gifts. My mom said, “I just have to smile when I think of all of the gifts, Pinks & Blues for making this shower possible and the giving companies who participated by “showering” Jody.” I have to believe that Adeline is looking down at us smiling knowing some joy is being restored in our lives. I think she knew the Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower was exactly what I needed as a positive distraction during my high risk pregnancy to take my mind off of it all for a little while and bring more joy into our lives.

It is hard to comprehend that Adeline would be turning one on June 19 if she was still with us and not in heaven with our Heavenly Father. I know that day will be difficult but we will celebrate her short life and the memories she left us in the 20 hours she was with us. I hope she feels the intense love we have for her and how much we miss her every day.

I have to say the three of you out did yourselves. I mean the individual tags on every item (too cute) and the care you took in packing/wrapping everything, it must have taken you forever!! Heidi and I had to laugh as we were on box three before we found the master list of all the prizes. I was trying to keep the tags with every item so I would not mix anything up when Heidi and I decided we better write it all down as well for thank you purposes. So Heidi began to write it down and then we found the awesome list you all prepared and we said screw the list, Jane, Sharon and Audrey are on top of this!!! I was very impressed. Thanks for taking the time to do that. The three of you are smart cookies. :) (a lot smarter than Heidi and I since we did not realize the boxes were numbered) Audrey and Sharon, thank you for the book too.

Audrey, I can’t wait to hear the news of Henry’s arrival in just a few weeks. I have 7 weeks to go before we meet this little one or should I say big one as I have big babies! I have to tell you that the name Henry is on our boy name list too, as I think I mentioned to you earlier that was the runner up name when we had Charlie. We are more set which names for a girl but are struggling with a boy name which probably means we will have a boy without a name for a few days!!

Here are some photos from our “shower” that I thought I would share with you. Heidi and I are both kicking ourselves that we did not get one of her and I together that night.

Again, THANK YOU for everything from the bottom of my heart. I am truly in awe of the three of you!

Much love,
Jody”

Ah, the Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower is no longer “virtual.” It is as real as real can be.

All of the gifts have been packed, and everything is out the door and in the mail!

Audrey, Jane and I had such a great time running this special baby shower. We met the most beautiful mamas-to-be. We made so many friends. And we’ve seen the most perfect baby, Mommy and Daddy “things” to come along, ever!

Words that come to mind… Fun. Functional. Personal. Lovely. Safe. Oh, so cute. Exquisite. Adorable. I want one!

Yes, 70 fabulously generous companies hand-picked the most perfect baby products and services to give to Angela Kinsey of The Office, and to Jody, the mama-to-be winner of our Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower.

Here are some of the pictures we took as we prepared the packages…

Jody, our Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower Mama-to-Be, has a beautiful update on her pregnancy, her family, and of course, style!

(1) [Audrey] I have sort of morphed into having maternity uniforms! So tell us, do you have any maternity “uniforms” or style outfits?

[Jody] My work wardrobe has morphed into “business causal” everyday. Luckily for me, my work place tends to be on the more causal side anyway. I have about 3-4 favorite pair of pants that I alternate for work. One black pair (sliming color even though nothing about a pregnant woman is slim), one grey pair, one light tan and one darker khaki pair. I do not have a lot of “winter” tops and shirts but my sister and my friend Heidi have been kind enough to share some of their great “cold” weather clothes with me. I feel like I wear the same thing over and over again. Hopefully it warms up soon as I have more spring and summer maternity clothes.

My after work outfit is sweat pants the moment I walk into the door. I usually add a roomy sweatshirt or a tee shirt. I know, very sexy! But I am oh, so comfortable! Basically the same thing to bed.

Weekends consist of jeans, a more “fitted” maternity top and a pair of flats or Pumas if I am just out running errands. I try and stay away from my heels while pregnant but I did break out a ‘sassy’ pair for Easter!

(2) [Jane]What special activities do you and Charlie have together now that spring
is here?

[Jody] Well, let’s just say that where we live it does not feel like spring. When we left our house this morning it was only 27 degrees! It feels more like February than April.

On Monday, March 31 we received 6 inches of snow! I thought Mother Nature was playing an early April Fools joke on us. You might have guessed that we live in the Midwest, Minnesota to be exact. Last year during this same week we had a couple of days in the 80s. Not this year. Very unpredictable weather.

Luckily the sun means business this time of year and is quickly melting all of the snow
we just received. Just two weeks ago on Easter we were all sledding at my parents house on their great sledding hill. This spring has been nothing but typical as far as the weather goes.

We have had a few nice days where we have enjoyed the great outdoors. Some of Charlie’s
favorite activities include driving his “big” truck, his bike, playing street hockey (we do live in THE hockey state!), soccer and baseball. To prepare for summer Charlie takes swimming lessons once a week and we go swimming once a week as a family. He loves the water as much as his Mommy and Daddy at his age and is our little fish!

If the weather cooperates in the upcoming weeks we will take a few trips to the zoo to see the baby farm animals. Charlie is anxious to visit our neighborhood parks and has been asking when all of the snow will be gone so we can go to the parks. Every day I tell him, “Soon, very soon!”

(3) [Sharon] We know little Adeline is smiling on you and your family. Do you think (at this moment) she is sending a sister or a brother? And do Daddy and Charlie (and anyone else in your family) have a definite “feeling”!?

[Jody] I have had a “feeling” all along that I am having a boy even though this little ones’ gender remains a surprise. My theory is based on my previous pregnancies and how
I felt. With Charlie I felt relatively good which the exception of a few mornings praying to
the porcelain god and a few evenings where I left a mess on my dinner plate or in my napkin.
By the end of my first trimester I was feeling pretty good and had little to complain about except for the fact I had to wear flip flops at the end of a chilly October due to terrible swelling.

With Adeline I felt nauseous all day long and it lasted until I was just past the 20-week mark.
I would be fine one minute and the next minute I was sprinting to the bathroom. It was very different than my pregnancy experience with Charlie. I even had to go home from work ill a few times as there was no way I was going to make it through the day.

This pregnancy has been very similar to how I felt with Charlie with just a few mornings and evenings of nausea. I really cannot complain too much as I know so many mamas out there have it much worse.

On most days Charlie tells me it is a brother but once in a while he says the baby is a little sister.
Clearly, he has no idea! My husband thinks it is a boy on most days.

My Mom is really not guessing as she is has been wrong in the past and the same thing goes with
my Mother-in-law. But my Father-in-law, now that is a different story. He guessed both Charlie and Adeline correctly and both of my sister’s children right (She has two boys) and he now says very confidently that we are having a boy. I guess in about three months time we will know if he is right again!

Thanks so much Jody! We’re all following you every week of the way!

- Sharon, Audrey and Jane

“The Office” actress Angela Kinsey, our celebrity Virtual Baby Shower honoree, will be a first-time mom very soon!

We will shower Angela with over 70 amazing gifts from our wonderful Baby Shower sponsors – and Jody, the winner of our Virtual Baby Shower contest, will win the exact same Baby Shower gifts that Angela will receive (worth over $2,500.00)!

As she prepares to welcome her baby girl at the beginning of May and “The Office” gets ready to run its final 6 episodes of the season, we at Pinks & Blues had the chance to catch up with Angela about her plans for her baby’s nursery, being pregnant while filming and more!

Pinks & Blues: You’re in the final stretch… How are you feeling? Are the final weeks going by at snail’s pace or flying by like a horse race?

Angela Kinsey: I feel great. A little short of breath at times but other than that I feel fine. So far for me this pregnancy is flying by, but I do feel like I’m in the final stretch. Bending over to pick things up is getting tough. Now when I drop things, unless they are really important, I just kick them out of my way. ;) And I have become a huge fan of flip flops or anything that just slides on my feet. Ladies, please tell me I am not alone in this.

P&B: Obviously you can’t reveal any big juicy “Office” secrets… but can you reveal if Angela will be sporting a baby bump around Dunder Mifflin?

Angela: I can’t wait for everyone to see our new episodes but you won’t be seeing a baby bump. “Angela Martin” does a lot of filing and carrying folders, etc. in the next six episodes. Die-hard fans, forgive us, but with only six episodes left it was just too hard to make the time jump that my character would be preggers.

P&B: Do you have special theme for your daughter’s nursery?

Angela: No, not really. I just wanted it to feel cozy. If there was any theme it would be a spring day. I have a great gal who is painting a mural on one wall of a big flowering tree. There will be a few butterflies and some bunnies. And some grass and little flowers on the bottom. She just started and already it looks too cute!

P&B: Does anyone have a poll going around “The Office” to guess the date your baby will arrive, and her weight/height stats?

Angela: Ha! Yes there is. The crew has started an “Angela’s Baby Pool.” They have a calendar and you can buy a square for $10. You pick the date and time. It’s pretty funny. I have started having doctors appointments every week now and you should see how the ladies in the crew circle me after for details. I’ll be in the hair and makeup trailer and they’ll say coyly, “So, Ange any news from your doctor?”

Read our previous interviews with Angela here and here!

Don’t forget to tune in this Thursday, April 10th for the first of 6 brand new episodes of “The Office” on NBC!

We’ve revealed that Jody is the winner of our Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower… so now it’s time for our readers to get to know this special mama (to Charlie, 3 years old)/mama-to-be (due in July!) a little more!

Pinks & Blues: Who is the first person you called when you found out you won the Virtual Baby Shower contest?

Jody: After I read the email twice from Pinks & Blues announcing that I was the winner, and Charlie and I stopped screaming and jumping up and down saying, “We won, we won!” then I immediately called my dear friend Heidi. I thought she deserved the first phone call since none of this would have happened without her surprising me with the nomination for the Pinks & Blues Virtual Baby Shower. Much to my dismay, I got her voicemail, but left her an elated message saying, “I WON!” and, “THANK YOU, Heidi, for making this all possible!”

Needless to say, she called me back soon after and we both rejoiced at the good news and giggled like little school girls. Heidi said she was hopeful I would win, but we both knew the other mamas had touching stories as well. She said she had already sent out a massive email announcing the good news and could not wait to call her family and close friends! She told me that she plans on being at my house after the prizes arrive so we can open things up together. She almost seemed speechless, and I would not describe Heidi as a quiet person. :)

I told her that as excited as I was about the marvelous prizes I had won, I was just as excited that I got to share Adeline’s story with the world and fully celebrate this little miracle growing inside of me. I believe that Adeline is looking down from heaven at us and smiling at the joy that is being restored in our lives.

My Mom says that Adeline accomplished so much in her short life; she brought hundreds of people to God in prayer during my month on bed rest in the hospital, she brought us so much joy when she was born, she broke our hearts when she left us less than 24 hours after her arrival, and again she brought hundreds of people to God in prayer after she left us and we desperately needed to be held by Him. Still presently, she is at work as many are praying for this baby and a healthy pregnancy for me. She is one remarkable little girl!

jody_adeline.jpg
Jody and Adeline

P&B: You are planning to keep the gender of your baby a surprise. During an ultrasound, have you ever been tempted to find out the sex?

Jody: Yes, especially since my husband would like to know the gender. I would let him find out, but he cannot keep a secret, so that really is not an option. When the ultrasound technician began to scan me yesterday, he asked if we already knew the gender and if we wanted to find out. I immediately said, “No, we do not know and we hope to remain surprised.” My husband said, “Yes, I would love to find out!” I gave him “the look.” Guess who won this disagreement? Yes, the gender is still a mystery even though my ‘motherly instinct’ has me leaning towards one gender over the other.

I will have many more ultrasounds in the next few months, but hope to keep the gender a surprise.

P&B: Do you have any name possibilities that you’re willing to share?

Jody: Names, yes, names. This one has been difficult for us, and to be honest we have not spent a lot of time talking about names yet. I am open to any name suggestions you might have….please share suggestions!

P&B: How is Charlie preparing for his important role of Big Brother?

Jody: At first when we told him he was going to be a big brother I do not think he believed us since he was probably thinking, “That is what you told me last time.” Now, I think he has embraced the fact that he is going to be a big brother.

He told us if it is a girl we should name her Sally and if it is a boy we should name him Charles or Clifford. I am sure you figured out that he loves the movie “Cars” and also the books and show “Clifford.” His real name is Charlie and I believe he thinks Charles would be cool, as that is so close to his name.

He tells me on a regular basis that he is going to be a big help when the baby arrives. He said he plans to hold him or her every day. At least once a week he asks to see my “tummy.”

A few days ago he said, “Mom, I think the baby is really growing!” He likes to kiss my stomach and sometimes he tells me he can hear the baby crying.
