i am serving in afghanistan in the US army. 2 yrs ago, i served in iraq and my wife cared for our 2 children, who were both in diapers. now, she is pregnant with our 3rd. i’d love to surprise her with a shower! she’s due in june 2008. thank you

We have baby number 3 due and it has been a while since he had a baby in the house. This would be an awsome gift we are getting close. 02/22/08

Too bad, I’ve already had my son, but this would be awesome for some lucky mama. I can’t wait to spread the word.
Our Daughter is due to give birth to her second Daughter on February 23rd so this would be a great gift for her and her Husband.
So much fun. This is perfect for our best friend’s expected one.
My daughter has been waiting so very long to get pregnant. Finishing her education and $ are the prime blockers. This would really help. Pick us!
My husband and I are expecting our first. Every little bit helps, our little one was unexpected, but definitely the best blessing in the world!!!

I guess only financially stable families was chosen as finalists for the virtual baby shower…all these little cutsie stories about miscarriages..so many women have gone through them…too bad they also all have homes to stay at and too bad they don’t have lead paint in their apartments and too bad they are not poor and struggling to find food for the baby in their bellies everyday…… I guess you are only a great mama to be if you already have everything going for you…
I also guess you are chosen only if you fitted a certain classification… they all look the same to me….but then I knew that already..don’t know why I even tried. Loved this blog until now..bye

Jackie, I am sorry you feel this way. I am also sorry that you think of a miscarriage as “cutsie.”
We obviously can’t please everyone, but we at least hoped that people would have compassion and understanding for each other and each other’s situations.
Not everyone who has a home is not poor. Not everyone who has a home has “everything going for” them.
As for your statement that “they all look the same” to you… we didn’t ask for anyone’s picture until they had been chosen as a top 10 finalist. So please don’t imply that we had any kind of agenda.
Our panel spent almost a week pouring over these stories, heartbroken that we couldn’t give each and every woman who entered the gift package. But, in the end, we felt strongly that all the women who entered would be able to look at the bigger picture… the fact that they were getting the greatest gift of all - something that all the money in the world can’t buy - a beautiful, loved baby.
I guess we were wrong in at least one case.

I am really sorry to read Jackie’s response to the finalists chosen. I would like to add one thing to Jane’s articulate response and that is that you can never know someone else’s situation. I find it so insulting that you, Jackie, would characterize any devasting miscarriage and the weeks, months and heartbreaking years that follow as “cutsie.” Also, each of these mama’s to be’s stories is only a breif snapshot into the lives of the expecting parents’. I think that it is funny that you think that all fo these women are well-to-do, I have read nothing that insinuates that in any of the stories. Every child is a miracle and truly, as Jane said, the greatest gift of all.
I couldn’t let that one go. Sorry.

Wow… I have not been able to log on for a while, however, I feel strongly that I need to add on to what Jane and Rachel have said about/to Jackie. It saddens me, as a mother of two (when I was told I could not have children), that any woman would feel bitter towards any other woman for becoming a mother. It is obvious that Jackie might have some personal issues herself that have nothing to do with the amazing work that the gals at Pinks and Blues do for women all over. Jody is a very blessed mommy and so deserving as are all mommies and as Jane said, Pinks and Blues would have given to every contestant if that was humanly possilbe… that’s the kind hearted women they are. So I guess what I am trying to say is, “Shame on you Jackie!”
